Old Business
1. Minutes from the December 2, 2010 meeting were read and accepted.
2. The committee was advised that the Animal Advisory Annual Report to the Town has been submitted.
3. The suggested changes that Marty Haspel will submit to Town Meeting were reviewed by the Animal Advisory Committee and the committee approved the wording.
New Business
1. Marty Haspel advised the committee that he was going to approach the Board of Selectmen with a concept to be considered regarding off lead dogs on Dyer Prince Beach.
Marty is going to present three criteria for the Board of Selectmen to consider:
•That dogs need aerobic exercise that can only be provided off lead
•Volunteers would man the beach to insure that all rules are being followed
•That a roster of volunteers would be compiled that would provide adequate coverage during the time dogs would be allowed on the beach off lead.
If the selectmen had agreed with the proposed article granting them authority to allow dogs on other beach areas, then the Board would charge the Animal Advisory Committee to come up with a plan based on input from all interested parties, the plan would go to the selectmen after the town meeting.
The Animal Advisory Committee approved this concept and agreed that it would take on this task if requested by the Board of Selectmen.
Administrative Matters
Date of Next Scheduled Meeting: Thursday February 3, 2011.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bill O'Shea
